Hello all,
This is the admin for guywilkins.com here. Just to let you all know, comments for now have be turned off to anonymous users because of the major spam problem occurring on the site. I will be upgrading to the new version of Drupal and installing some better control over this in the near future.

Fairview Pub May 16 @ 17

We recently had a two night gig at the Fairview Pub.

Here's the skinny. We walked into the Fairview Pub with our minds wide open. The places reputation precedes it but in bars things change frequently and vary greatly on the night. Figuring that this was a Tuesday, Wednesday show I was hoping to see the regular booze-hounds and cracker jacks that obviously fund the brass shining. To our surprise it appeared to be quite nice. Clean and safe, and geared towards live shows a little gem for musicians and audiences alike. And they sell bottled beer hint hint. We opened for the Grass Root Deviation, and a special thanks to Kieth Duggan, and everyone that came out to the nights.

30 Hour Day

A blog entry not entirely music related. Just a thought thats crossed my mind a few times in the past couple months. It seems as though there is never enough hours in a day. Just as the night arrives and my mind eventually awakens from the daily stupor. It is night, and every sensibility instilled in me since I was a blown up crying bag of responsibility tells me sleep is imminent. Fair enough, but I do not wake like a farmer with the rising light. My curtains allow the fairytales to evaporate past expiration. So instead what I propose, and am curious if anyone else out there does this, is live off a 28hr 6 day week. This allows 8hrs of sleep per night but with 20hrs awake time instead of the regular (insufficient) 16hrs.

Happy Bday Project Opus

As some of you may already know Project Opus the web site host for indie bands launches on the 15th of this month.

This website is built for musicians to effectively market their own music over the internet with relatively little computer knowledge. Allowing artists their own page where they can blog, place pictures, post songs and more importantly to sell their songs online, this is huge for small artists trying to connect with their fan base and market themselves to a wider audience in multimedia format.

Feels Good to be back..

It definitely does feel good to be back in civilisation, with good food, a comfy bed and hot water. Budget traveling in Mexico is an interesting experience.. one place my girlfriend Saraya and I stayed in had previously been under water a month earlier!! But, I can't complain.. we did ask for their $20 economy room. Lots of great times, but happy to be back, and ready to get to work. Music is work. But it's much more enjoyable than the jobs we have. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy serving the public. I like working in the public services sector, and I like people. But, it can tend to get a bit dull, repetitive, and I wouldn't be there if they didn't pay me.

Technorati Tags: nickogawa backstagelounge projectopus vancouversun

The Media Club

Our opportunity to perform at the open mic at the Media Club was an excellent one. The night had a wee bit of a slow start as the drummer for the house band didn't show up till after 10:30, but the line-up of talent was smokin hot! This guy named "Derek" opened up the night with an acoustic rendition of "I got soul, but I'm not a soldier" by the Killers, that was bang on.
